One of my favorite 'extra-curricular' activities is participating in community theater.  This year I'm thrilled to reprise one of my favorite roles in the Reedsburg Players production of, "Fiddler On The Roof."  The first time I played Tevye's wife, Golde, was in a 2003 Baraboo Theater Guild production of, 'Fiddler.' It was also the first time I worked opposite my friend Joe Corbin, who will be reprising his role of Tevye this time around as well!  Come spend a few hours with Tevye, Golde, and the rest of our cast of talented, home-town thespians.  You are always welcome in the little village of Anatevka.  Right?  Of coarse, right!

Ringing In The New Year Concert - 4 p.m.

327 Iowa Street Dodgeville WI 53533

I'll be playing a short 15 minute Christmas set for this annual concert organized by some very dear friends of mine.  It's always an enjoyable afternoon with performances by the Dodgeville United Methodist choir, bell choir, and more.  They have traditionally waited until all of the Christmas bustle, and post season football games have passed to have their Holiday concert.  Although this year, Wisconsin football fans have one more game to look forward to in February.  Yeah, Packers!  There will be a little Holiday music as well as songs for all seasons, followed by a homemade lasagna supper.  It promises to be a warm place to spend the last Sunday evening in January!

The Village Booksmith & Coffee House

Diane Michaels & Chasing The Sound - 7:30 pm

526 Oak Street Baraboo Wisconsin 608-355-1001
Price: Items for Baraboo Food Pantry
This will hopefully be the first of many opportunities to meet members of the band, Chasing The Sound, who will be playing back-up for me.  They are; Scott Weber - solo mandolin and guitar, (if you watch closely you might even catch him doing vocals now and then); Ron Frye - rhythm guitar and vocals; Michelle Bushweiler - violin, keyboards and vocals; and last but certainly not least, Clint Clingerman - bass and vocals.

We will be missing Michelle on November 5th.  She is appearing as Aunt March, with the cast of the musical 'Little Women,' that will be performing at the Al Ringling Theater that same evening.  Stay tuned for future dates that will include the entire band.  In the meantime, Ellen Lee will be filling in at the piano for us.

We have been playing together for about a year now, and thought it was time we tried out a few tunes in front of a friendly audience.  The Village Booksmith is just such a place!  The proprietor, Annie Randall is a wonderful hostess, and there is a 'friendliness guarantee' from the crowd of regulars who attend events.

With the Holidays fast approaching and the economy being what it is, we are asking audience members to bring one or more non-perishable item for the Baraboo Food Pantry.  In addition to food items, they also appreciate things like laundry detergent and shampoo.  There is no such thing as a 'too small' donation!

Hope to see you there!

The Village Booksmith & Coffee House

Second Friday Poetry Night with poet Mokasiya - 7:30 PM

526 Oak Street Baraboo Wisconsin 608-355-1001

This will be a new adventure for me, but a joyful one.  I will be accompanying the poet, Mokasiya, as he reads selections from his two newest books, "The Shaman's Dream," and "When God First Laughed."  Mokasiya describes his poetry as, 'playful earth-sun-moon-nature-soul-connected poetry,' and that it is!  I had the great pleasure of sitting down with him not long ago to hear him read some of his work.

There will be open stage poetry reading for the second half of the evening.  The Village Booksmith, is a unique venue in downtown Baraboo, Wisconsin.  The proprietor, Annie Randall, is a wonderful event hostess and great storyteller to boot!

Even though this is a late addition to my calendar page, come on out on October 8 to hear some beautiful poetry!
